Why Cast Acrylic?

Acrylic, or poly-methylmethacrylate, is a transparent thermoplastic that can be manufactured for a wide variety of applications. It shares many of the benefits of plastics over conventional materials, including:

  • Cost effectiveness
  • Lightweight
  • High resistance to chemical damage
  • Impact resistance
  • Thermoformable – can be manufactured easily into precise shapes

They are especially for useful applications in the electrical industry (click for more info),

Two commonly used forms of acrylic are cast acrylic and extruded acrylic. Cast acrylic is better suited than extruded acrylic for most applications. Extruded acrylic is a much less uniform material than cast acrylic, and hence have many more defects in the material. This gives cast acrylic superior physical properties in comparison to extruded acrylic. Cast acrylic can also be machined more easily to meet the needs of your specific application needs. Our Products

We specialize in producing clear cast acrylic tubes and rods, which can be fabricated for a variety of optical applications. They are more resistant to degradation than other acrylic products over a wider range of chemical and environmental conditions, have high optical clarity, and are made to exacting standards. Each rod or tube is closely inspected after every step in the manufacturing process for defects.

An acrylic tube or rod manufactured by US Cast meet ASTM D5436 specifications, and is certified for food contact and flame resistance. For more information about our inspection criteria, the technical specifications of our products, or to request our product catalog, click here.
